Inspiration comes from the textures, shapes and colours of land, sea and weather, of patterns both natural and man-made, and also the essence and character of materials themselves.

My response is intuitive, and my process is that what starts out as a playful engagement usually becomes more serious and specific, but looking back over five decades of art practice the two things that stand out in my work are Landscape and Abstraction.

The simplification of reducing landscape into its abstract components has always come naturally to me.
